SonEQ: EQ VST Plugin - Free Download
The SonEQ VST plugin is a digital equalizer that emulates and combines the musical qualities of two classic analog devices, the API 550 and the Pultec EQP, into one equalizer VST.
The plugin comes with Low, Mid and High bands.
The Low section functions like the Pultec EQP-1A equalizer with a Boost knob to increase the low frequencies and an Attenuation knob to lower the frequencies just above that to avoid muddiness in a mix.
The curve of the Mid band EQ resembles the gentle curve of the API 550.
The preamp does not simulate any particular device, but the design is based on tube circuit characteristics of vintage audio gear. The result is a warm distortion, controllable from subtle to strong levels, that creates a sensation of amplitude and punch. Although frequency and gain values are shown on the SonEQ controls, best results will usually be found using your ears to adjust the final settings!
